NEWSFLASH: ACP No Longer has Absolute Majority in Parliament

Imperial Parliament, Geneva - Franco Torres stunned Imperial Parliament officials last night as he formally left the Alexandrian Conservative Party (ACP) in favor of going Independent. Immediately after he announced this decision, he lodged a request to organize a new party, the Union of Christian Democrats.

With the resignation being handed in late last night, no one at the ACP has yet commented on M. Torres' decision.

What this means for the ACP is that they find themselves with only 42.8% of the Imperial Parliament's seats, down from 57%, on the roster. They remain the largest party, but no longer have stranglehold on the house.

Meanwhile, the inactivity of major government officials means that there has still been no action taken to fill the empty seat left following Liam Sinclair's resignation, last week. This despite M. Sinclair warning Parliament well in advance of the announcement.

Speaker resigns Parliament, body leaderless

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - Speaker of Parliament Pete James (AAP) recently resigned from the Imperial Parliament as the body readied itself for a prompt dissolution and an election season in full swing. The resignation came accompanied with a sudden leave of absence by James, leaving the Alexandrian Amelioration Party leaderless and in disarray in the midst of elections. In his hasty exit, James appointed Liam Sinclair as Clerk of the Imperial Parliament, making him Speaker upon the depature of James. Mssr. Sinclair denied being consulted to take up the position and quoted outside commitments as his inability to perform the duties thrust suddenly upon him.

Conservative MP from Rio Grande, Jose Frias, was visibly outraged at the Speaker's moves. "This is of course, the kind of half-baked schemes that the AAP and now departed Speaker Pete James have been so known for. Mssr. James just upped and left all of a sudden, leaving the Parliament abandoned and without leadership," stated Frias. Conservative MP from San Martin, Matthieu Poitiers, rose to volunteer for the vacant position to steer Parliament until its scheduled dissolution on the 15th of this month.

So far, it seems like Parliament will be leaderless for the remaining of the session unless the Emperor conducts a vote to replace the Speaker.

Race could end up exploding onto the national stage again

Crécy, Ibelin; Genevan Arrow – Prime Minister Juan Ciervo opened the election season today when he issued a writ of election that dissolved Parliament. This is the first election after the brief state of emergency caused by an inactive Parliament under the last Frias Government. It was during this emergency election that the contest for the seat of Ibelin, usually quiet, grew into a hard-fought race that ended in a tie and exploded into the national scene under the recent Code of Electoral Law. This election season, it is predicted that the Ibelin race will recapture national attention as more and more of its citizens rush to file candidacy papers to replace the recalled Lysander Spooner.

As this article went to press, Nicholas Bertrand of the new Liberal Alternative and a new citizen, Maynard D’Aire (Independent), filed their candidacy papers to run for the Ibelin seat. It is expected that Jean Carmicheal (AAP) will also do so, since he has previously stated his intent to run for said seat. Added to this is the wildcard – a renewed candidacy for the recalled Lysander Spooner (F-C) to regain his seat. Legally, since the recall election to replace him was never held, he is legally entitled to run for the Ibelin seat once more.

The Ibelin race is amounting to be a four-way race in a province where there are about six active citizens. Two of those – Jacques de Beaufort and Paul Joyce – have both been in an extended leave of absence for the last few months. If said citizens do not participate of the vote, it will be very likely that the race will be once again thrust into the national level for the second time in a row.

ABCC to reinvigorate its flagship, the Genevan Arrow

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - The Alexandrian Broadcasting and Communications Corporation, a state-owned broadcasting corporation, is currently discussing plans to reinvigorate and revitalize its flagship publication, the Genevan Arrow. Nothing as of yet has been made concrete, but the Imperial Cabinet is set to begin internal discussions as to what kinds of reforms and new policies will be implemented to reinvigorate Alexandria's only state-owned company.

The Genevan Arrow will officially restart its coverage of local Alexandrian news in coming days, stated the Palace of Wesloderia.

Alexandrian Government shaded with the Conservative blue

Geneva, Alexandria; Genevan Arrow – The Conservative Party, capitalizing in the unpopularity of Prime Minister Pete James and the Alexandrian Amelioration Party, managed to score an incredible electoral victory in this month’s general elections.

The Alexandrian Conservative Party managed to recapture the Prime Ministry and Parliament for the first time since July of last year. Jose Frias was elected Prime Minister once more, defeating Prince Augusto of Corcovado with a large majority. The Conservatives also managed to capture almost every seat in Parliament except the traditionally liberal Valenciennes, who was won by the Alexandrian Amelioration Party.

Upon his swearing-in, Prime Minister Jose Frias addressed the Alexandrian people in an inaugural address, saying “I pledge to serve the people of Alexandria with the best of my abilities, and to work with my fellow parliamentarians in passing the legislative agenda I have outlined for my term.” The Prime Minister’s agenda includes the reintroduction of a national economy, betterment of relations with the Kingdom of Novasolum and constitutional reforms that will extend the length of Parliaments in Alexandria.

Alexandrian Public Radio has been in developmental stages since June 10th, when a small test broadcast was made that went largely unannounced and unnoticed by most Alexandrians. "WQe wanted to present a surprise broadcast for our citizens, so we kept it quite for a little while," stated His Majesty to the Arrow. "Hopefully now that our citizens and friends have seen APR, we can get their input to continue to develop the base that we have built."

Incumbent Prime Minister kicks off re-election early

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - Incumbent Prime Minister Juan Ciervo of the People's Democratic Party officially lauched his re-election bid in a speech before the student body of the University of Geneva. "I feel that it is my obligation and honor to seek reelection," said the Prime Minister. "I ask the people of Alexandria to renew my term so I may provide the right leadership to better ourselves and reach new heights."

The announcement for a re-election bid by Prime Minister Ciervo is the earliest anyone has announced their candidacy for Prime Minister in Alexandrian electoral history. The election is expected to become a tight three-way race between the three main political parties of Alexandria. So far, other parties still have yet to provide an official candidate for the upcoming Prime Ministerial election.

6th Imperial Parliament to take posession

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News – The 6th Imperial Parliament of Alexandria was recently chosen in what was a quiet election - no major campaign efforts were mounted by any political party within the Empire.

The results of the January 2007 parliamentary elections were confirmed immediately upon the closing of the nominations period, when it was obvious that all the candidates were running unopposed. All candidates won by default, resulting in the production of a more divided Parliament. Two seats (Asuncion and Baudrix) are held by independent candidates, two seats (Valenciennes and Ibelin) are held by the Alexandrian Anti-Party, and two other seats (Puerto Nuevo and Rio Grande) are held by the Alexandrian Conservative Party. The Prime Ministry is held by the People’s Democratic Party, which counts for one parliamentary seat.

The current makeup of the 6th Imperial Parliament might change within the next few weeks. The merger of the provinces of Asuncion and Puerto Nuevo into San Martin eliminated one seat in Parliament. A by-election is scheduled for this new seat.

Ávila, San Martín; ABCC News – In a historic provincial referendum, the provinces of Asunción and Puerto Nuevo unanimously merged into the new province of San Martín. In a brief speech to the people of the newly formed province, His Imperial Majesty called upon the new province to “build on the momentum of this historic event and establish a provincial government.” The results of the referendum were formally confirmed yesterday by His Imperial Majesty.

The referendum was triggered by the passing of the Provincial Reform Act of 2006 by the Imperial Parliament, which was given Imperial Assent on January 10th, 2007. The act was one of the cornerstones of the now-concluded term of former Prime Minister Jose Frias, the author of the act.

The establishment of the new province of San Martín is sure to evoke the emotions of many Alexandrians who were part of the Republic and later Empire of San Martín. It was when the Empire began to collapse and fragment that Alexandria acquired it. “This is a historic event, and it sure evokes those times in which San Martín was indeed the power of Cibola,” commented His Majesty to ABCC News.

Ciervo's Interior appointment meeting opposition in Parliament

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - In what seems the end of newly elected Prime Minister Juan Ciervos' political honeymoon, the Imperial Parliament has so far rejected the Prime Minister's appointment of Jean Pierre Robespierre to the Ministry of Interior. Jean Pierre Robespierre was formerly a member of the Alexandrian Conservative Party and served as Minister of Interior under the Frias administration.

Former Prime Minister Jose Frias, now an MP from Rio Grande, and Jacques de Beaufort, MP from Ibelin, have both set up opposition to Robespierre's appointment. Responding to the mounting opposition to Robespierre, Robespierre commented "Ok... what is up with the whole vote Robespierre out of office deal?"

The Ciervo Cabinet will include Jose Frias as Minister of Economics, Prince Augusto Benavides as Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Prime Minister has not submitted a candidate for the Ministry of Defense as of yet.

Ciervo wins Prime Ministry, end of Conservative Revolution

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News – The Conservative Revolution, begun in part by the likes of Sofia de Aragon and Jacques Gordon and which led to the establishment of the current Constitution, has been ended by Alexandrian voters who elected Juan Ciervo of the People’s Democratic Party with 54.5% (6 votes) of the vote. Incumbent Prime Minister Jose Frias only obtained 45.5% (5 votes) of the vote in one of the closest Prime Ministerial elections in Alexandria’s history.

The results were certified today by His Imperial Majesty, who published an Imperial Statement confirming Mssr. Ciervo's win. As this article went to press, no candidate had made a comment on the election results.

Mssr. Ciervo's razor-thin electoral victory may have spelled the end for Conservative dominance of Alexandria's government. The Alexandrian Conservative Party has dominated the Prime Ministry since the ratification of the Alexandrian Constitution of 2005 last December. The last parliamentary election, held in October, were disastrous for the Conservatives who lost their supermajority in Parliament. Because the Prime Minister is also a member of Parliament, this was another resounding blow to the Conservative's shrinking membership in Parliament.

It is still not clear what is the agenda on Mssr. Ciervo's mind. During the campaign, he was the only candidate not to release a comprehensive manifesto.

ABCC poll gives advantage to Ciervo in Prime Ministerial elections

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - With the Prime Ministerial elections just a few days away, the ABCC released a poll giving the PDP challenger Juan Ciervo a comfortable majority over incumbent Conservative Prime Minister Jose Frias.

The poll, conducted by the ABCC from November 1st through the 10th, is a fairly accurate view of what the election might look like, since 8 out of 11 citizens participated in the poll.

Given the poll results, this election could indeed spell the end for the Alexandrian Conservative hold on the Prime Ministry since the ratification of the Alexandrian Constitution in December of 2005. Last parliamentary elections, the Conservatives also lost their supermajority in Parliament, due in part to inactivity and party division over Novasolum.

Frias releases "Agenda For Progress", some opposition

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - With just a mere 10 days until the next Prime Ministerial election, incumbent Prime Minister Jose Frias and the PDP challenger Juan Ciervo are facing off in a heated campaign for the Prime Ministry of Alexandria. Just today, Prime Minister Jose Frias presented the Agenda For Progress, a concise electoral outline of what his second term would look like.

"...I have proven under my administration that I have been a man of results, a man of strong conviction and a man of fierce resolve. I wish to continue the path of progress and needed reform that I have begun," wrote Frias in the Agenda. His electoral agenda highlighted several areas. These were government reform, electoral law, economics and finance, citizenship and immigration, society and civil rights, political parties, foreign affairs, provincial affairs and national defense. PM Frias reiterated his opposition to Novasolum, listing that it will be a priority to "reinvigorate the campaign for Alexandria’s departure from Novasolum."

The electoral manifesto has already recieved some opposition from the Alexandrian Anti-Party leader, Pete James. "I canot agree with this," said James, objecting to PM Frias' point on implementing policies that would curtail abortion in Alexandria.

PM Frias braces for 'tough' election

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - Incumbent Prime Minister Jose Frias officially launched his bid for a second term recently in a speech Monday before a large crowd in his home province of Baudrix, Alexandria. Meanwhile, the electoral race for Alexandria's top government position has begun to heat up, with the entry of former Chief Justice Juan Ciervo. Last Friday, Mr. Ciervo announced his resignation from Alexandria's highest judicial organ, and promptly filed his candidacy papers to run for Prime Minister for the ailing People's Democratic Party.

Pete James, who had filed papers to run under the Alexandrian Anti-Party, withdrew his candidacy after Ciervo filed his own.

Shortly after formally declaring the election race underway in his Baudrix rally, the Prime Minister said to ABCC News: "It will be a tough election for the Conservative Party ... I think it will be a close election." Despite recent opinion polls indicating support for the Conservative Party at a national level, PM Frias is bracing for a contested election. Last parliamentary election, the Conservative supermajority was decimated, mostly due to the inactivity of a large part of Conservative Party members.

As of yet, none of the candidates for Prime Minister have formally published an electoral manifesto, but the campaign is beginning to heat up with TV and billboard ads all over Alexandria. Pro-Ciervo ads are being run on the normally Conservative strongholds of Baudrix and Puerto Nuevo, pro-Frias ads are running nationally right now.

October elections for Parliament affected by activity

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News – Despite low levels of interest and activity from most Alexandrians, elections for the Imperial Parliament went ahead despite the fact that two provincial seats for the Imperial Parliament remain empty. The seats for the provinces of Baudrix and Rio Grande did not receive any candidacy papers, and all of the other candidates won by default in provinces where elections are usually contested.

The Emperor decided against closing the Imperial Parliament and declaring a state of emergency. “I strongly believe in the democratic gains we have made over the last year, and I decided that Parliament could continue smoothly with just two seats empty. Hopefully, Alexandrians will see that an active Parliament is in their best interest,” said His Imperial Majesty to ABCC News.

The elections resulted in the surprising shattering of the massive Conservative supermajority of the 4th Imperial Parliament, and in the return of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to Parliament by winning the normally Conservative stronghold of Asuncion. Jean Pierre Robespierre, formerly a junior Conservative MP, ran as an independent. Most Conservative MP’s such as former Prime Minister Jacques Gordon (Baudrix) and Andre Cesaire (Rio Grande) have retreated into inactivity. Federico LeMamon, a former Conservative turned independent, also succumbed to inactivity.

Novasolum membership in re-evaluation once more

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News – Speaker Pete James of the Imperial Parliament recently re-opened the long suspended vote on Alexandria’s withdrawal from Novasolum, which was closed when a conference on the matter was called in Geneva. Now that the 4th Imperial Parliament is closing in October 21st, the vote has been re-opened, but the tally is still unlikely to change.

The vote is tied 3 votes in favor (Frias, Cesaire and James) and 3 votes against (Poitiers, Ciervo and Robespierre) with two abstentions from two members in Parliament that are currently inactive (Gordon and LeMamon).

The Prime Minister has publicly stated in Parliament that he remains committed to seeing Alexandria withdraw from Novasolum. "My vote will stand firmly in the OUI. Just look at recent events - Novasolum was on the edge of a ineralliance war. What kind of alliance is that? Better to be alone than ill-accompanied," said the Prime Minister.

The push for an Alexandrian withdrawal from Novasolum sharply divided the Conservative Party, and possibly contributed to the departure of its junior MP Jean Pierre Robespierre and one of its greatest leaders, Cardinal de Beaufort. This issue is certainly going to factor into the upcoming Prime Ministerial elections in November, where the opposition is expected to be emboldened by a weak Conservative voter base.

Alexandrian Parliament amends Imperial Constitution

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News – The Alexandrian Imperial Parliament unanimously moved towards amending the Imperial Constitution to eliminate two seats. These seats were established by the original draft of the Alexandrian Constitution of 2005. One was reserved for a member of the judiciary, which was to be appointed by the Prime Minister. The other seat was devoted to a Catholic scholar, appointed by the Emperor.

The Balance of Powers Amendment, as the bill that amended the constitution was called, recently received Imperial Assent and was made part of the supreme law of the land. The effort to “restore the balance of powers” was led by Lord Chief Justice Juan Ciervo, who was the first and now the only member of the judiciary to serve in the eliminated seat.

Lord Chief Justice Ciervo was appointed to the seat by Prime Minister Jose Frias, ending months of vacancy since the Constitution was ratified in December 1, 2005. The preceding Prime Minister, Matthieu Poitiers, refused to appoint a member of the judiciary to this seat in opposition to the concept. The other seat, previously held by Jean Michel Leclerc, remained vacant since the departure of Leclerc in March of 2006.

Central Bank of Alexandria fully operational

So far, several citizens have reclaimed their assets under the old economic system and have registered an account in the Central Bank.

Prime Minister grants more time for electoral registrations

Geneva, Alexandria; The Genevan Arrow - To rescue the elections from a lack of candidates, Prime Minister Jose Frias announced that the time allotted for Alexandrian citizens to file their candidacy papers has been extended to October 12th. "The Emperor has indicated to me that a few extra days for registration should be made available," said Prime Minister Frias.

So far, only four provinces out of six have at least one candidate. The provinces of Rio Grande and Baudrix remain unrepresented.

Alexandrian election threatened by inactivity slump

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - As mandated by the Imperial Constitution, Prime Minister Jose Frias issued a writ of election effectively ending the 4th Parliament of Alexandria, allowing for parliamentary elections to occur. This time, the parliamentary elections in Alexandria coincided with a massive activity slump in micronationalism, and Alexandria has been subjected to some of the inactivity that is affecting nations like Shireroth and Anthelia.

"It is good to see that despite the general inactivity slump in micronationalism, we still carry on and allow democracy to march in our nation, " said the Emperor to the Genevan Arrow. "However, it's important that the citizens remain committed and participate in a democracy, if we are to continue to have one." Sources from within Wesloderia have commented that there are discussions within the Imperial Cabinet on what course to take should the election fail to gather momentum.

So far since the issuing of the writ by PM Frias, three candidates have stepped forward to run for the provincial seats of Asuncion, Valenciennes and Ibelin. Jean Pierre Robespierre has formally filed papers as an independent candidate, further evidencing the apparent split within the Alexandrian Conservatives over issues such as Alexandrian membership in Novasolum. According to the most recent ABCC poll released today, the Alexandrian Conservatives still garner 57% of the popular support. However, most of their MP's are either inactive, filed papers as Independents or are declining to run. This could destroy the Conservative super-majority that was built by Prime Minister Frias last election.

ABCC placed under Royal Charter

This measure comes as the Emperor and several other Alexandrians try to revive the ABCC as the national news service and to futher expand its range of services. "This is a step in the right direction, and it will revamp our nation's oldest news service," said His Majesty. "It shall also trigger some economic activity in the future due to the possibility of privatization and such."

National economy undergoes massive reforms

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - The Economic Revitalization Act, a key piece of legislation in Prime Minister Jose Frias' efforts to reform the economy, was given Imperial Assent today after it was passed unanimously by the Imperial Parliament.

This act enacted massive reforms proposed by PM Frias in his economic agenda outline which drew much praise from intermicronational economists and from several Alexandrians. However, the Economic Revitalization Act deviated from the Prime Minister's original proposal to bring Alexandria into PHP MicroXchange 2 after several leading micronational economists suggested otherwise.

Among the reforms enacted by this act is the creation of a new banking system in which the Central Bank of Alexandria is the centerpiece, to be run on the PHP Bank program. The grand total of Alexandrian ecus now in circulation has been drastically reduced from 5 million ecus to 650, 000. This act also instituted a new tax which is expected to become a very big revenue source for the government - the Land Value Tax. The grant system was massively reduced, narrowing all grants to just one business grant for all newly established firms headquartered in Alexandria, and a one-time grant for all bank accounts opened in the new Central Bank of Alexandria.

First ARS recwar going "smoothly"

Geneva, Alexandria; Genevan Arrow - If you haven't noticed, Alexandria is in a massive full-scale religious civil war... all in good fun, of course. The Alexandrian RecWar Society (ARS), recently founded by His Imperial Majesty the Emperor and His Grace Pete James, recently began its first rec-war. Recwars conducted in ARS have no impact on the reality of Alexandria, allowing anything to come and go.

The Alexandrian Wars of Religion have pitted Catholics against Sonic-worshippers in a desperate attempt to exterminate each other and impose their religion upon the Empire.

"For being the first ARS recwar, it's going pretty well. No one has been god-modding nor being a genuine ass in this whole thing," said His Imperial Majesty. "Everything is going smoothly."

Imperial Parliament slowly wakes up from post-election slumber

Geneva, Alexandria; Genevan Arrow - The 4th Imperial Parliament is slowly starting to wake up from a post-election slumber with the re-election of Pete James (pictured) as its Speaker today. After the election, Parliament has remained quiet, and there are still elected MP's who have failed to sign their parliamentary oath to begin their term.

The quick awakening in Parliament came as the Emperor left a strong notice in Parliament earlier today, specifying that "if I don't see any progress soon, I shall have to declare a state of emergency and rule on my own."

Speaker Pete James began his second term as Speaker of the Imperial Parliament by reopening three bills originally proposed in the 3rd Imperial Parliament.

Geneva, Alexandria; Genevan Arrow - Amidst the lull and quiet of the summer micronational slump, Prime Minister Jose Frias unveiled a large economic agenda aimed at relieving the Empire's economic woes. Titled the "Conservative National Economic Recovery Plan", the Prime Minister proposed reforms of a grand scale, aiming at tearing down the current manual economic system and reintegrating Alexandria into PHP MicroXchange 2 (MX2).

"The PDP-controlled Ministry of Economics has been in complete and total disarray for months now, and I plan to end that," wrote the Prime Minister. The plan has so far recieved lukewarm reception from leading micronational economists, who sustain that Alexandria should not rely upon MX2. "MX2 is pretty much worthless these days. Don't ask my how and why, but it seems to be randomly denying transactions. The concepts it was based on aren't very realistic to begin with, either: instead of rewarding the circulation of money, it will increase the value of your currency if you let it pile up in your nation's accounts," said Sander Dieleman, one of the coders of PHP MicroXchange. In a reply supporting Mr. Dieleman, Liam Sinclair said "Aye, MX2 will have the totally opposite affect on your plans - it will destroy Alexandria's intermicronational trade potential like it has with the rest of its users."

The leader of the People's Democratic Party and the current Minister of Economics, Sebastian Alexandre, welcomed the plan but issued scathing remarks, accusing the Prime Minister of using the plan as a "political tool" and of stealing ideas from the PDP's economic agenda. "However, the over-useage of the word 'Conservative' seems more of a political tool than anything else. Especially when you simply took some ideas from this and made it look fancy," said Mssr. Alexandre.

Following the remarks made by Mr. Dieleman and Mr. Sinclair, the Prime Minister stated that he is now reconsidering his decision to join MX2. Mssr. Alexandre stated that he would be against a plan that does not include integration with PHP MicroXchange 2.

Geneva, Alexandria; Genevan Arrow - The 4th Alexandrian Parliament is flooded with the blues today as it opens after the elections last week. The Alexandrian Conservatives, whose party color is blue, have won a stunning majority in these last elections - a grand total of 71.4% of the seats in Parliament, or 5 seats. The Conservatives now hold the largest majority ever achieved in the history of the current Imperial Parliament. The People's Democratic Party, affected by the loss of Pete James as its leader, gained no seats. The new movement started by Pete James, called the Alexandrian Anti-Party, won the seat from Valenciennes. The Non-Partisan Association was phased out after months of inactivity. The 4th Imperial Parliament is set to open today.

"We pledge to get things done - for the people of this great nation of ours," said newly-elected Prime Minister Jose Frias today in a public release regarding the opening of Parliament.

In the Throne Speech, His Imperial Majesty, reading the speech written by Prime Minister Jose Frias, said that "This election gave us the necessary mandate from the people to pursue a more intense course of reform aimed at making Alexandria stronger and free. Prime Minister Matthieu Poitiers could not be present to call for elections due to a personal leave of absence. This announcement officially kicks off the Alexandrian election season, which will end in June with the Prime Ministerial elections.

The 3rd general election promises to be a contested election - over the last few months, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has developed into a viable and stong opposition movement against the ruling Alexandrian Conservative Party. The Genevan Arrow went into abandonment after the staff of the newspaper deserted it. The Genevan Arrow is a direct descendant of the former Imperial media giant, the Alexandrian Broadcasting and Communications Corporation, or ABCC. The ABCC changed its name to the Genevan Arrow on November 17th, 2005.

Geneva, Alexandria; The Genevan Arrow - His Imperial Majesty started a petition in Place du Marmion today nominating Juan Ciervo, known as Jon, as the first member of the High Court of Justice established under the Constitution of 2005. The Constitution of 2005 was recently passed by the Imperial Parliament of Alexandria, making it the law of the land.

Juan Ciervo was an able Grand Admiral of the Grand Imperial Navy of Alexandria. He was given medals and recognized for his work during internal crisis. He recently resigned his position in the Navy and is now retired, quoting as his reason that he wished to serve in some other positions in Alexandria.

So far the petition has recieved three out of four endorsements needed to get Juan Ciervo into the High Court of Alexandria. If this petition is approved, Juan Ciervo will become Lord Chief Justice. This is the first time in Alexandrian history that an indepenent judiciary has been set up and the first time in Alexandrian history that it is staffed by actual Justices. In the past, severe inactivity has pushed judiciary powers into the hands of the Emperor.

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - The people of Alexandria chose in a national poll to rename the ABCC News to "The Genevan Arrow", despite the name being in a tie with "The New Times of the Empire". After the people decided to go ahead with "The Genevan Arrow" name, this publication temporarily shut down, for it was to be replaced with a hard-copy micronational journal. The plans, according to government officials, fell through and the ABCC resumed publishing in the ABCC News blog today.

Edgardia, Alexandria; Genevan Arrow - Jean Jacques Miterrand, a former member of the Conservative Party, announced the creation of a new political party in the capital of the province of Valenciennes, Edgardia. "Today marks a great point in Alexandria’s history. Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - Jean Jacques Miterrand, the leader of the Union for the Popular Majority, has expressed severe opposition against the first draft of a constitution, proposed by the Emperor himself. The Constitutional Convention, meeting in Geneva, has not seen much action yet, and this could be the needed catalyst to get the Convention going.

The current draft, proposed by the Emperor, was meant to merely start things off- so far it has gained general acceptance. That is until today. The proposed constitution would create an elected judiciary and would turn the Estates-General into a unicameral Parliament in which all citizens are able to participate. Miterrand showed severe disagreements with these points, and suggested creating a balance of power between the Emperor and the Prime Minister much like France's government. He also suggested the addition of a full bill of rights to the current constitutional draft.

Geneva, Alexandria; ABCC News - The Empire of the Alexandrians today sunk into the midst of a civil war today between the Imperial Government and the rebels of the Alexlibre Terrorist group who have been performing horrible terrorist attacks in major cities of Alexandria like Edgardia, Geneva, Kettle and Franciscania. This comes as the country is involved in one of the biggest military disasters of its history and as approval ratings for the government plummeted to near 10% within the last few weeks of fighting. The abortive invasion of Arminy has sent these numbers into an all time low.

After eight hours of fighting in the capital, the terrorist guerillas captured the capital and within hours, they recieved news that all of the major cities within the Empire had fallen to the guerillas. Soon, news leaked out that the Palace of Wesloderia was captured and that the Emperor of Alexandria, Edgard II, was forced to abdicate. He remains in house arrest in the grand palatial complex in Wesloderia along with his family. Soon after the news leaked out, at precisely 1:35 pm, Alexandria time, the ABCC broadcasted footage of the leaders of the massive national revolt against the Imperial government. Name change and John Harvey win in Madland elections

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - The polls finally closed today in one of the most controversial elections in Madlandian history. The State Electoral Commission is set to proclaim the winner later today of the Prime Minister, who is John Harvey with a whopping 60% of the Madlandian vote. The proposed name change was overwhelmingly approved by 80% of Madlandian voters.

"The results of this election will affect Madlandian history greatly," said His Imperial Majesty in a very optimistic mood. "We will move forward and usher in a period of progress and prosperity for all Madlandians... or should I say Alexandrians?"

The election was a bitter defeat for both Jorge Tuvallia and Lord Pontmercy, who both ended up with 20% of the vote.

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - The Imperial Electoral College opened today in Geneva to begin recieving those Madlandians whose duties call them to vote for their next Prime Minister of Madland. The elections officially begin tomorrow, but some in Madland have a tradition of early voting. "I am looking forward to this election. If it's sucessful, it will be the first officially sucessful election in Madland's history," said the Emperor to MBCC News.

The three candidates running for Prime Minister are John Harvey, Lord Pontmercy and incumbent Jorge Tuvallia. The MBCC predicts this will be a hotly contested election this year. So far, MBCC polls are favoring Jorge Tuvallia 60%, but everyone in Madland knows how suddenly volatile the elections can get and favor another.

Proposed name change recieves generally good feedback

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - The Emperor's proposed name change has recieved mixed reviews at home and overwhelming support from abroad. The conservative Monarchist leader Lord Pontmercy has voiced his opposition against such measure, while Jorge Tuvallia, leader of the Burning Torches Party, has voiced his support for this historic change.

"I recognize that change isn't easy, said Mr. Tuvallia to MBCC News, "but that doesn't mean it's not good, you know?" The name change has recieved overwhelming support from abroad. People from Hanover, Red Britain and other micronations have said that they believe it is a great idea.

Other details of the bill have come under siege in the Estates-General, such as the section that would create the Imperial Nationhood Committee in the Estates-General. The committee would enforce the name change and make sure that all names and institutions are "in sync" with the nation's cultural character. People like Jorge Tuvallia think this should be the job of the Ministry of Culture, History and Information to do this. Meanwhile, Lord Pontmercy has voiced his opposition to the bill: "Why would you want to change the damn name to Alexandria? Estates-General considering sweeping change in Madland

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - The Emperor of Madland today proposed a bill that would bring sweeping changes into Madland. This bill would amend the Madlandian Constitution to change the name of Madland to Alexandria.

The bill is set to have opposition from the traditionally conservative Monarchist Coalition Party and its leader Lord Pontmercy.

The bill, if approved, would create a parliamentary committee that would enforce the amendment, draft a declaration of seriousness for Madland and ensure that Madland's names and institutions stay true to the nation's theme and character.

This is the first time in Madland's two-year history that such sweeping reform is proposed. Many believe that if the bill is passed, the Parliamentary Committee would probably change the nation's theme to make their job easier.

Missing Grand Rapids man hits close to home

Grand Rapids, Michigan; MBCC News - Madlandian supporter Getulio Rodriguez, age 63, mysteriously disappeared the morning of November 3rd as he headed off to a job interview. The family of Getulio Rodriguez called police after he didn't come home later that day. Getulio Rodriguez was a very good friend of the Portela family, and through that, helped Edgard Portela draft Madland's first constitution and in the content that a Madlandian website should have. He toyed with the idea of becoming a Madlandian citizen but found no time in his busy schedule to become one and honorary citizenship status was bestowed on him for his work for Madland.

Silent Observer is offering a reward of $3500 for any information in this case. But so far, police have no leads and don't no why a man with no money or a history of mental illness would disappear.

Rodriguez is a pastor from Argentina. He preached around the world for the 7th Day Adventist church. Now, thousands of people in North and South America are praying for his return. "Why would someone want to hurt him, I don't know why. I just want to think that something happened in his mind, a break down, something that he was lost," says his daughter, Heidi Rodriguez.

Rathoma, Coralia; MBCC News World Service - Royal Chancellor Edgard Portela, in response to calls for the current Grand Duke of Coralia, Ozarka I, to step down, has launched a coup d'etat to oust the Grand Duke and reform the country. In a short speech, he said, "We must all rally together under the flag of a united and better Coralia. Not under the flags and banners of individual little factions. We must revitalize Coralia!"

So far, no one has responded to the coup d'etat that Royal Chancellor Portela has called. In his speech he proposed the calling of a national referendum on the government style of Coralia in order to draft a constitution based on the wishes of the people. The Party for Constitutional Rights has given itself a make over and changed to the Social-Republican Nationalist Party of Coralia (SRNPC) and is calling for the establishment of a Coralian Republic.

So far, the Reform Party of Coralia has not issued an official statement like the other parties regarding the issues currently facing Coralia.

This comes in the midst of an all-time low participation count in Coralia after the accession of Ozarka I to the Coralian throne.

SEC publishes election schedule

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - The President of the State Electoral Commission (SEC) of Madland, His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor, published today the official election schedule for the Prime Ministerial elections in Madland.

The election schedule has included input from the major PM candidates; Tuvallia and Pontmercy; in efforts to attract people to Madland during these elections. The current election schedule is based on that of the United States' and includes battleground regions for the PM candidates.

BATTLEGROUND REGIONS IN MADLAND:
- Nubinar: normally a Monarchist region, the state of Nubinar is now divided almost evenly between the Monarchists and the Burning Torches.
- New Puerto Rico: anyone can capture New Puerto Rico at this
moment, many of the Empire's undecided voters.

Madlandian candidates campaigning for votes

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - In its most contested Prime Ministerial election ever, Madlandian Prime Ministerial candidates have begun to launch campaign tours all throughout Madland. This is a first in Madlandian electoral history. Jorge Tuvallia, the Burning Torches Party (BTP) nominee, launched the first of these tours on October 29. He stopped at Geneva, Franciscania and San Juan Bautista and participated in rallies, speeches and even trick-or-treated with Nubinarian schoolchildren.

Meanwhile, in response to this highly sucessful campaign tour of Madland, Lord Pontmercy, the Monarchist candidate, is starting a campaign tour tomorrow which will cover more ground than Tuvallia's. Pontmercy's campaign will include a stop at Frankfurt, the city where much of the action in the Madlandian Civil War took place earlier this year. John Harvey, the independent PM candidate, still has not laucnhed any tours like these throughout Madland.

The election plans to be extremely contested. The SEC is planning for a runoff election for the candidates that obtain more than 25% of the vote.

Conference on the Coralian issue opens, Madland to assist

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - President Gasgan of the Democratic People's Republic of Coralia has agreed to sit down in a conference with the Royal Chancellor Edgard Portela of the Grand Duchy of Coralia to discuss a solution to the Coralian issue. The Conference on Coralia, hosted in Ezboard(http://p198.ezboard.com/bconferenceoncoralia12851), has already born fruit, both sides have agreed to enter into a cease-fire/non-aggression accord to make sure these negotiations go smoothly. So far, the Red Antilles have opened their delegation offices, eager to participate in the Conference.

His Imperial Majesty shall appoint a representative to represent Madland in the Conference on Coralia, since he is representing the Grand Duchy. The Emperor has not made any statements yet regarding his plans on a nominee. This nominee will probably have to be approved by the Estates-General.

Madlandian troops in standby to defend legitimate Coralian government

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - Orders from the residence of His Imperial Majesty in Coralia arrived a few seconds ago to activate a total of 600,000 troops for a possible invasion of Coralia. This comes as the Coralian Grand Duke, Gasgan VI, made a last minute regime change in Coralia, turning it into a socialist republic hours after the Emperor won the elections in Coralia and his party, the Reformist Party of Coralia, was swept into power.

Currently, the Grand Duke or General Secretary are locked in a heated debate in the Coralian forums, regarding the issue at hand. The Emperor has threatened to respond "as Madlandian Emperor" against this coup, while the Grand Duke has contended that he holds the power over Coralia no matter what.

The Emperor sent a small statement to MBCC News saying, "As Royal Chancellor of Coralia, I shall do everything in my power to ensure that this is fixed. I will try to avoid using force, but when necessary, I shall defend Coralia."

Coralia: Last minute regime change as elections conclude

Rathoma, Coralia; MBCC World Service - In a last minute development in the Grand Duchy of Coralia, the Grand Duke of such nation, Gasgan VI decided to suddenly turn Coralia into a socialist state. This comes just a few hours after Edgard Portela and the RPC were swept into power in Coralia in elections supervised by a International Commission.

In response to this last minute regime change, Edgard Portela resigned to all of his positions in Coralia and vowed to abandon it, except for diplomatic relations between Madland and Coralia and the MBCC World Service offices. "I really had lots of plans for Coralia. How could you go ahead and do that just because you so please? I'm apalled," said Chancellor Portela enraged to the Grand Duke. Gasgan did not accept Portela's resignation.

The new Coralia has been set up as the Democratic People's Republic of Coralia (DPRC) in new forums. Talks between the former Grand Duke, or General Secretary and Royal Chancellor Edgard Portela are on the way to fix the situation in Coralia.

Coralia: The RPC, Portela win the elections

Rathoma, Coralia; MBCC World Service - In one of its biggest, most contested elections yet, the Grand Duchy of Coralia has elected Edgard Portela as its Royal Chancellor and his party, the Reform Party of Coralia, has won the majority in the Chamber of Deputies. Upon hearing of his victory, Portela organized a huge rally in downtown Rathoma, attended by many of his supporters. "We will bring Coralia into a new era of progress! We will continue the reforms and make Coralia a great nation!," said Portela in the rally. At the beginning this victory was practically unfathomable, the Trascendentalist Liberation Party (TLP) had captured a great piece of the votes early in the election. The remaining parties, the RPC and the Party for Constitutional Rights (PCR) scrambled for more votes as the TLP's leader Claude du Torchon gained in the polls.

But towards the end, the RPC's campaigns in Coralia and its large party membership came forward to support the party and voted for Portela as Chancellor. Portela took an amazing 62% of the vote, and the RPC took an equally amazing 57% of the vote in the Chamber of Deputies. The PCR remained behind with 14% in the Chamber and 12% for Reza Pahlavishah, its Royal Chancellor candidate. The TLP came closest to the RPC with 25% of the vote for its candidate for Royal Chancellor, Claude du Torchon, and with 28% for the Chamber.

Chancellor Portela is set to make a speech to the Chamber of Deptuies outlining his plans for his tenure as Royal Chancellor. Meanwhile, an RPC party convention is being planned to design a set of legislative plans for the party.

John Harvey announces candidacy for Prime Minister of Madland

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - With a short but well-applauded speech to the Madlandian people and the Estates-General, His Imperial Majesty opened the Estates-General of Madland last Friday. This event set off hundreds of parties all around the country, as Madland's government transitions to normalcy. This is the first time that the Estates-General meets under the Constitution of 2004.

In his speech, the Emperor used recent events in Madland to prove that it is moving forward. "New citizens have joined Madland. New elections for Prime Minister were called. And now, we're standing here, opening our first official Estates-General session," said His Imperial Majesty in the speech. The Emperor asked the Estates-General to "keep the progress of our nation at the forefront of your first legislative session." In his speech he urged the Estates-General to pass legislation that will maintain the steady progress Madland has made in its transition.

After the ceremony, His Imperial Majesty and the Imperial Family were driven in the State Golden Carriage to the Palace of Geneva where they boarded a motorcade that would take them to the party in the Palace of Wesloderia.

Madlandian Emperor calls for the election of a new Prime Minister

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of Madland, published Imperial Decree 015, calling for the first Prime Ministerial elections under Madland's new Constitution. These would be the first Prime Ministerial elections in Madland since early 2004. So far in Madland, things have alread gotten a little bit heated between the leader of the Monarchist Coalition Party, Lord Pontmercy, and the leader and candidate for the Burning Torches Party, Jorge Tuvallia.

It is expected that the Monarchist Coalition Party (MCP) shall nominate Lord Pontmercy to be its Prime Ministerial candidate. So far, only the Burning Torches Party has published its official manifesto, which was practically a call for the reinstatement of Jorge Tuvallia as Madland's Prime Minister.

"This will be a contested election, I think," said His Imperial Majesty to MBCC News, "Madland has not had a 'favorite' per se in a very long time. We'll see what happens." The election process has been opened to any Madlandian citizen that wishes to run, regardless of whether they have their own political party or not. People wanting to run shall have to publicly announce their candidacy in the Place de l'Ellsamere with a statement of their qualifications for office and positions. All Madlandians are required to register to vote ASAP with the State Electoral Commission.

So far, predictions are sketchy. "Both Lord Pontmercy and I can win," said Jorge Tuvallia to MBCC News, "we're gonna campaign hard." The MBCC estimates that currently support for both the candidates is 50/50.

Madlandian Independence celebrations tarnished by recwar

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - As voting closed in the Antican Senate on Saturday October 16th, celebrations in Madland were in full swing. A unanimous 6-0 vote was given by the Antican Senate for the independence of Madland. Sadly, on October 18th, Soviet forces advanced into a defenseless, partygoing Madland and quickly captured Geneva in a random recwar.

Soviet troops massacred hundreds of Madlandians that had setup their own militias to defend Geneva, much like their counterparts in the city of Frankfurt had done in the Madlandian Civil War. The Soviets proceded to found the puppet People's Republic of Geneva, saying that "Their [Madland's] independence was a farce! Long live liberation!" The Emperor was safely moved to the secret command bunker of Vranscia, where he assembled most of the Grand Imperial Army of Madland to beat back the Soviets. So far, Madland has shown superiority over the Soviet forces.

Madland's invasion has touched off two more Soviet recwar invasions of Mayo and Madland's ally, Coralia. His Imperial Majesty has pledged to support Coralia militarily, but has not offered any aid to Mayo.

It is not known whether these actions are actually a war or just a wargame. Madland's boards have not been attacked themselves, neither have those of Mayo and Coralia. The initiating force, the USSR, has not yet commented on the inquiry. His Imperial Majesty is set to make the case for Madland in the Micronational Recwar Society to make sure that when these recwars happen, do not happen randomly and without proper notification of the nations involved.

Pre-independence hype escalates, celebrations all over

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - All around Madland, pre-independence hype has escalated to a great level. Genevan shopkeepers are setting up patriotic displays and towns all over Madland have decorated their main streets with the national colors and banners. Even make-shift statues of Lady Madlandia, the human embodiment of the Madlandian nation, have been erected in town squares all over the Empire.

As the voting on the Antican Senate continues satisfactorily for the cause of Madlandian independence, more and more Madlandians are beginning to see the granting of their independence as inevitable. A Genevan shopkeeper said "We have more than five ayes in the vote. It's pretty much ours." The Madlandian government has not officially planned for any celebrations when voting on the resolution closes on October 16. "I will leave all the celebrating for after we get our independence. What use will it be if we do it before we even get it?," said His Imperial Majesty to MBCC News.

The Madlandian government is set to announce soon the plans for independence celebrations. Many think it will include a guest appearance of the Antican Emperors and other foreign dignitaries. Nothing has been said, but as MBCC News went to press, the government had indicated that an announcement was inminent.

Interim National Budget approved in Madland, set to cause controversy

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - In a great historic act in the Empire of the Madlandians, His Imperial Majesty put the Interim National Budget, the first budget law in Madlandian history and proposed by Interim PM Jorge Tuvallia, into effect through Imperial Decree 011. The budget was divided into five main sections: Government Operations, Defense, Technology, National Development and Constitutional Commitments. Also a first in Madlandian history, a salaries rate has been set for the Prime Minister, Cabinet members and the Speaker of the Estates-General. Never before in Madlandian history had civil servants been paid.

A part of the budget that is set to cause controversy is the allocation of MR 100 ($10.00) to the cause of micronational cartography in response to Chapter I, Article XII of the Madlandian Constitution. The decree did not specify how exactly it should be spent. "I wish to give a small contribution to the MCS," said PM Tuvallia, "but I don't want to make this look like we want to buy the MCS or something." Many in the micronational world that dislike Madland or just like to be annoying would see this as Madland trying to buy the MCS. "I assure you this is not the case. Madland wishes to make its mark on micronationalism and help develop micronational cartography." Others think this budget is giving a blank check to the Ministry of War and Defense. Lord Pontmercy said to MBCC News, "I think that there should be some sort of specifications as to on what this defense money should be spent on made by the government." He went on to say that "I [Lord Pontmercy] just don't want the money spent in something that is not worth spending on. After all, it's not our money." With that, he referred to the fact that the budget money came directly from the His Imperial Majesty's private non-micronationalism income.

PM Tuvallia seemed very hopeful and optimistic about the budget law and Madland in general. "This is a sign that we are moving forward," said PM Tuvallia, "I want my administration to be one that made a couple of firsts in Madland." His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor, is set to open the Estates-General on October 22nd. "I am glad that we are moving towards the right direction, this is the doing of a country," said His Imperial Majesty today to MBCC News. People all over Madland are beginning to plan for the celebrations that will be set off when the Antican Senate closes voting on the resolution and it passes. "The Great Independence Celebrations" ,as they are being called in Geneva, are set to include military parades, speeches, granting of medals and much more. The city of Geneva is set to be "dressed-up" with the national colors. This bustling activities remind many of the great parade that followed after the end of the Madlandian Civil War. "This is even more happy, we are becoming an independent nation again. Madland is its own thing now," said His Imperial Majesty about comparisons between Civil War celebrations and Independence celebrations. Already, many firework displays have lit up the sky of Geneva and many other cities. New San Juan, the capital of New Puerto Rico, is preparing for a great party that will include a small regatta. "It is a joyous moment in the history of our nation," said His Royal Highness Prince Enrique, also Governor-General of New Puerto Rico, about the celebrations.

When asked if the bill was pulled out of this, His Imperial Majesty said "No, not really, I knew that the bill would be a waste of time to push through because it would never be passed. Madland is seriously underrepresented in the Senate." His Imperial Majesty plans to address the issue of Madlandian representation in the Senate once the Provisional Government of Madland is up and running.

Madlandian Emperor proposes independence bill on Antican Senate

Aquilaria, Antica; MBCC News - Today, in a bold move that will certainly enrage the Antican government, His Imperial Majesty posted a bill titled "Madlandian Independence Act" on the Antican Senate floor. The proposal came as a reaction to the opinion column published yesterday by MBCC News. "I do not agree with the accusations that the writer has made about Antica, but I do believe that my charges may certainly affect my leadership over Madland under an Antican flag," said His Imperial Majesty to MBCC News. His Imperial Majesty promptly added, "I'll withdraw the bill if I recieve an assurance from the Antican government that Madland will remain under my leadership and that I will not lose my titles." Many in Madland believe that this will probably not be a possiblity. Jorge Tuvallia, a citizen of independent Madland but not of Antican Madland told MBCC News that "I [Jorge] do not think that the Anticans will provide the assurance because they will be so mad that the Emperor even made that move." Only time will tell. Analysts at MBCC believe that the bill will meet a strong opposition. His Imperial Majesty failed to comment on the column's claim that the Union is "unconstitutional" in Madland.

Opinion: Independence for Madland, please

The following opinion column was written by a Madlandian citizen that has requested to remain anonymous.

The union with Antica was painted to us in beautiful brushstrokes of pink. It was almost too romantic. Antica was to take Madland to the altar and make it part of its Empire. It was supposed to be a great moment for our country. One of pride and celebration. We were joining our great allies and friends, who had fought with us, side by side, when 100,000 New Puerto Rican rebels were knocking at the gates of Frankfurt. They always offered their full support whenever Madland needed it. The union was supposed to cure the constant crisis that Madland faced with participation. Our culture was going to explode in a huge renaissance that would make Antica look the greatest patron of culture and arts all around micronationalism. We would grow unhindered beyond our wildest dreams. Madland was supposed to get itself out of the hole it had been stuck in ever since it was founded two years ago. Where did the optimism and promise of the Union go? Where did the slogans and campaigns go?

There is only one simple explanation: they are all dead.

The optimism has been replaced with a heavy pessimism clouding Madland. The promises and pledges of a new and better future were destroyed. The slogans and campaigns quickly disappeared once everything had been done. We now see how our government officials have deserted us in a foreign land. We see how our people are treated with indifference by Antica. We see how a judicial system (which is totally biased and, hence, doomed) "flourishes" at the expense of the Emperor and Madland's reputations. The government that was supposed to transition us into a greater future never showed up to do what they were supposed to. We were abandoned, left on our own. And the Antican government has taken this as its great advantage. They are ripping apart our Emperor through a shabby trial, fabricated by the Emperors of Antica, to finally destroy him. Why must you ask? Well, they want Madland. They want to destoy the Emperor and take away what he calls "my only child". They want to take away that which he has created and worked for years. With this trial they aim to destroy his reputation and remove him from power. Yes, remove him from power... I know that might be a bold accusation, but I am Madlandian. I speak what I think. They will poison the jury, which is already largely pro-Antican, to declaring the Emperor guilty. God knows what they'll do to him. They will strip him of all of his leadership positions and make him rot in a jail.

Must we allow this to happen?

Many scream out against the injustice but fail to do anything. They stand watching the Emperor get destroyed.

We must not let this happen. But how exactly... independence for Madland. Destroying the wretched bond that keeps us an Antican province. A bond that is quietly making us sink deeper and deeper into destruction.

But, we must not pursue this course of action the "Madlandian way". That is, with the non-stop, "by any means necessary" mentality. We must garner support from other micronations and do this peacefully. Antica should remain our friend, so we should not insult or enrage it while we undertake this noble quest. We must undertake this quest in the most, well, polite manner... by saying please and thank you's whenever they are needed. By praising the Anticans for, at least, taking us into their Empire. We must remember that they were indeed there when Madland was threatened by the might of Admiral Jones and the New Puerto Rican rebel army. We must remember that, had it not been for Antica, the USSR, and Absentia, our nation would be under the yoke of a illegitimate communist, authoritarian rule.

How are we going to pursue this? What are we going to do?

Well, first of all, I must say that technically, Madland has not officially joined Antica.

Crazy perhaps? No. It is true.

It is a crucial part of the transition process that has not been checked out of the list. The referendum, in the eye of Madlandian constitutional law, was just a poll. With the results of it, the Emperor was to sign a Charter proposed by Antica, and then proceed to write and sign an Imperial decree which would finalize the process and officially make Madland an Antican province.

The steps taken by the Madlandian Transitional Government were to rush the transition, trampling constitutional law in Madland. So, the Transitional Government of Madland is unconstitutional, and so is the Union.

The State Electoral Commission (SEC) announced officially today that the referendum was unanimous with almost all of the Madlandian citizens voting in favor of uniting with Antica. There was no strong opposition to the vote, although it was thought that the Burning Torches Party would oppose the vote due to its ultranationalist leanings.

The referendum so far is going well for the measure. Three of the six citizens eligible to vote in the referendum have already casted their ballots for the Union. The Emperor still has to cast his public vote, and it is expected he will vote Yes, making Madland an Antican province. His Imperial Majesty still has not offered a plan for integration with Antica, but he has appointed members of a Transitional Government to help the transition. Lord Pontmercy has been named Interim Prime Minister (Interim Provincial Prime Minister) and Jorge Tuvallia has been named to the future Provincial Ministry of Culture. Constitutional draft proposed in Madland

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - Taking charge of the stalled and abandoned efforts to write and ratify a Madlandian Imperial Constitution, Jorge Tuvallia posted a draft yesterday in the Constitutional Convention forums in the Imperial website. His Imperial Majesty has read the draft and agreed with it, but pointed out a few erorrs and things he did not like.

The proposed draft is sixteen pages long, and it sets up a strong legislative branch. It would also setup a Madlandian judicial system, which Madland does not currently have right now. The draft ,according to Jorge Tuvallia, "is probably one of the biggest time-savers in the history of the Empire," talking about the time it would save in debating and drafting. "All you need to do right now is to see if we can pass it," he said to the MBCC in an e-mail regarding the draft. This comes in the midst of a grueling national crisis regarding participation, which threatens to end Madland once and for all.

Madlandian Emperor makes desperate call for help

It is not certain how many foreigners voted in the poll at this moment. The poll was already extremely outdated, but in recent times I became active again and people began voting.

Regarding Jorge Tuvallia, the MBCC has not arrived at any conclusions. We are reporting what is happening in Madland as it is. Madland is a delicate balance of offline and online activities. The rumors we mentioned in the article responded to information obtained from an offline Madlandian citizen. Emperor declares an "Imperial state of emergency"

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - In a national televised address, His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of Madland, declared an "Imperial state of emergency" due to the recent alarming events in Madland. The declaration comes after a huge call from prominent Imperial politicians for the Emperor to act on the matter.

The Emperor declared the Estates-General dissolved and that he would rule by decree until "it is obvious that the crisis has passed and the legislature can meet again." The Emperor went on to add that to ensure that the Estates would remain active in the solving of the matter a special meeting would be called two weeks from toda to discuss a solution to the matter. His Imperial Majesty said that "foreigners that are interested in participating in the proceedings will be given access to the meeting". The Emperor also dispatched National Policemen to Geneva to make sure that the order is kept. He also put under alert the Grand Imperial Army. The Emperor ended his declaration with a small note to cheer up the nation: "We have gone through tougher times than these, my dear subjects. We always stick through together no matter what. Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - The thread in the Madlandian forums tracking the approval rating of the Emperor of Madland has indicated most recently that 44.4% of the country right now believes he is not "doing a good job leading Madland".

The poll, created earlier by Jorge Tuvallia, projected at the beginning that almost 80% of the nation believed that His Imperial Majesty was doing a great job. Now that the country is sinking into oblivion, the people still visiting the National Forums have reflected their opinion.

Rumors say that this is an attempt to discredit the Emperor in order to prompt him to abdicate. These rumors are running rampant around Madland, prompting citizens to join Jorge Tuvallia's call for action. Protests in Geneva by the Burning Torches Party

First national census to be conducted this week

Emperor writing book about Madlandian Civil War

Geneva, Madland - The Madlandian Civil War was one of the most perilous and horrible moments in Madlandian history. The war scarred many citizens of the Gradlian city of Frankfurt, where the bulk of the battles took place. His Imperial Majesty plans to write a history book concerning the Madlandian Civil War and the events and secret plotting that led up to it. The book, titled Chronicles of a Civil War, will be written in the Geography and History Cabinets in the Palace of Wesloderia, available for Madlandian citizens to look at while it is in the process of being written.

So far, His Imperial Majesty has not made available any text, only an outline of what the book might be like. But even that might not be very accurate. "I tend to change the setup of things as I go along, so I do not plan on making the outline permanent," said His Imperial Majesty to the MBCC.

The book is planned to be finished before September. But even that date might be subject to change.

MBCC News opens blog as part of revival efforts

Geneva, Madland; MBCC News - Madlandian government officials opened today the official blog site for the Madlandian Broadcasting and Communications Corporation, or MBCC, amidst celebration and joy. The MBCC has been completely inactive since before 2/23/04, when His Imperial Majesty placed it under Royal Charter.

The creation of the blog is aimed to revive the MBCC, which was the main provider of news and entertainment for many Madlandians. "What I am aiming is to rebuild the MBCC to what it once was, and actually provide local and intermicronational news," said His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor, who also is President of the MBCC.

This is one of the many steps in which His Imperial Majesty plans to bring cultural growth to Madland. The Madlandian government has also opened a Supreme Religious Council in the city of Franciscania, opening the doors of the Empire to religion for the first time in its two-year history.
